This document describes the "Simple Quick
Wiki” respectively "SQW".
SQW is more a concept than a tool. It is a concept for document management and
partly project management.
SQW just needs:
·
a file system. SQW also runs with Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS).
·
a word processing tool like Microsoft
Word or Open Office Word. MSWord is described here.
The concept of SQW is as follows:
·
Every folder in a file
system has an owner.
·
The owner of a folder
is also responsible for the subfolders as long there is no additional
"SQW"-document in the subfolder.
·
The folder with an
owner gets a SQW-document.
·
The owner of the
folder is mentioned in the "SQW"-document.
·
The
"SQW"-document is a MSWord-document.
·
The
"SQW"-document has to be edited with MSWord (or other word
processing tool).
·
Open the
"SQW"-document with Word or click the document > right mouse
> "edit" or "Bearbeiten"
·
Make sure that
invisible characters are visible: Format > Characters > .... Follow
these instructions.
·
The doc-type (htm,
html) should be kept if possible.
·
The document should be
named "index" (e.g. index.htm) if possible, because webservers
use index.htm(l) as entry point.
·
Versions of a document
get a date at the beginning (e.g. 20050112_document.doc) and are put in a
folder called OLD.
·
The file in use does
not get a version so links does not need to be changed.

"SQW"-document.
The creator of "SQW" is Börries Ludwig.
Börries uses Wikis from their beginning. He started with the
Wiki-Server from Cunningham & Cunningham and used it as project and
document management system in several companies and projects.
Often companies do not want to install, run, or use
Wikis. That's why SQW has been created. It just uses the very basic
concepts of Wiki Wiki Web from C&C and can be used by everybody with
basic knowledge of word-processing.
SQW has been used in several projects, even very big
ones.
